About Barbara
Barbara (Metsky) Kretchmar grew up in The Bronx borough of New York City, the only child of Russian immigrant parents. She is a graduate of Hunter College High School in Manhattan, Harpur College (State University of New York at Binghamton) and Syracuse University College of Law. She was a member of the New York and Pennsylvania Bars until she retired in 2016 after practicing law for forty-nine years. Her career included work for the Federal Trade Commission in Washington, D.C., Scott Paper Company and heading her own Marketing and Promotions Law firm.
Since marrying a Philadelphian in 1973, she has lived in Center City Philadelphia, PA. Her husband Ed died in March, 1990 after a seventeen-month bout with cancer. At the time of his death, they had two sons: a thirteen year old and an eleven year old.
Barbara has been actively involved in many community, social, charitable and educational organizations and activities.
